Redford Armory opened it's doors on August 21st, 2012. It began when two brothers, Daniel and Micheal Redford decided that the M4 series of weapons were too faulty after serving seven years (Micheal) and four years (Daniel) in the Marines. They began to make weapons after saving up $48,000 each for every year they were payed. In total it reached $528,000 dollars. They began purchasing gun parts and soon had their first working prototype rifle: the X81. They presented it to the nearest gun store. The store loved the weapon and began producing the rifle en masse. By March 2013 about 15,000 rifles had been made and about 6,000 had been sold.

A major industrial factory had closed down, allowing the Redford brothers to take control. it was by then that they decided to introduce a new weapon: the X80. A much shorter barrel and a 10mm round effectively turned the X81 into an SMG. On August 21st, 2013, the company's first anniversary they announced a new weapon: the X82. It is the sniper rifle variant of the X81 rifle, which at that point was in very limited use with Canada and the United Kingdom. On October 30th, 2013, the U.S Army decided to examine all three weapons for use. The X81 was subjected to a torture test but lasted after about 80,000 rounds fired. On February 14th, 2014, they announced a new weapon, the X83. It was an LMG and a new gas system which they also announced would replace the older M16A4 gas system used in the other weapons. By 2015, a civil war broke out in South Africa. They used the X81 all throughout the two year war. In 2017, Redford Armory stopped production, telling the public to not expect new weapons until late 2018.
