The American Special Forces Rifle (ASFR) is a gas-operated, assault rifle created by American arms manufacturer Colt, in 2013. It fires the 7.62x51mm for increased damage but higher recoil. The RPM is between 750 RPM - 900 RPM, which is substantionaly high, respectively. The fire modes are Burst and Semi-Automatic and it also uses a 20 round Magazine.

Military usage[]

Currently, the U.S. Marine Corps Recon battalions use the ASFR as their standard infantry rifle in Afghanistan and some MARSOC units are issued the ASFR. About 10,000 ASFRs have been issued the USMC so far.

Now, the U.S. Army's 101st Airbourne Division and the 75th Ranger Regiment (Army Rangers) have just began using the ASFR.

The AF have yet to issue the rifle and plan on staying with their old M16s and M4s.

The Navy SEALs use a variant of the ASFR called the NSFR (Navy Special Forces Rifle) seen below:

NSFR (Navy Special Forces Rifle)[]

A variant of the SFR used primarily by the US Navy SEALs. Functions and looks similar to the ASFR, with 20-round magazine-chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. Fixed rear sight and foldable front sight. Foldable stock for compactness and ease of carry.
