The FN/Magpul M300 is an experimental battle rifle/assault rifle project conceived by FN Herstal and Magpul Industries. The idea behind this design is to come up with an affordable, yet reliable weapons system for service with most armies around the world. At present, the weapon is deemed combat capable; with all tests ranging from durability tests to live-firing exercises completed under the supervision from representatives from all branches of the United States Armed Forces. Thus far, only the United States Coast Guard has placed an order for an unknown number of the assault rifle variant. However, discussions with two Southeast Asian-based companies are entering its final stages for licensing and production of the weapon overseas.

OverviewEdit

Due to the alleged claims of high cost of the mainstream weapons system currently on the market, FN Herstal and Magpul took the initiative to produce a weapon system that durable, reliable, and easy to operate, while maintaining a relatively low cost. The bullpup design allows high mobility for troop movement. Adjusting the barrel length enables the weapon system to be used in various operations and conditions, such as in the open with a long line of sight, or in a tight-knit urban area.

FeaturesEdit

The FN/Magpul M300 utilises the same gas operation as the FN SCAR. The obvious difference is that this weapon system is configured in the bullpup configuration. The ammunition for this weapons system are the ones commonly used by the majority of the world's armed forces today. The battle rifle variant is chambered for the 7.62x51mm NATO ammo, while the assault rifle variant is chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO. Despite the relatively low cost, the weapons system is currently facing tough competition from the more well-known weapons system currently available on the market, such as the M4 carbine and the Heckler & Koch G36.
